Cinnabon Liqueur?? Who knew?!?!

During a recent shopping trip with my husband two of the kids, we ended up stopping at Friar Tucks, a liquor store with the biggest selection I have ever seen or beer, wine, alcohol, mixers and even soda.  I went in for some Kirsch because I hope to work on a recipe for a Black Forest Cake and figured the cherry flavored liqueur would really bump up the flavor of the cherries.  I mean, you can just use some cherry juice with the fruit in the filling but why not throw in some alcohol when you can?  Am I right?

As I walked down the liqueur aisle (actually, I think there are 2 and they are LOOOONNNGG!) I found flavored liqueurs that I didn’t even know existed!  I may now have to start an over 21 section on this blog for all the alcohol laden desserts that went flashing through my mind!

With my oldest sons birthday coming soon, the Cinnabon Liqueur was the one that made it into my cart.  The night before his birthday, I baked up his favorite 2 layer white cake (recipe will be blogged soon) and a batch of my Banana Cupcakes found here .  Everyone really loved these cupcakes with the Brown Butter Frosting but the birthday boy declared them to be ‘better than crack’ with the Cinnabon Frosting!  I whipped it with the whisk attachment until the frosting was smooth and a bit light.  I could eat this frosting with a spoon!  Here’s the recipe – whip up a batch for your next cake or cupcakes!

Cinnabon Buttercream:
